I’m registered. Are you?

So, I did something today that I’ve been meaning to do for a long time. It’s something quick, easy, and painless. It only took a few minutes, didn’t involve any needles, but it could save someone’s life.

It’s something that will last for the next twenty-four years, until my 61st birthday.

I have no idea how many people I know have done this, but I’d be interested to know it. Do you want to know what it was?

OK, I’ll tell you. I registered as a bone marrow donor today. Yes, you read right that it didn’t require any needles. They collect the information they need from you now by a self-administered cheek swab.

How easy is that? You don’t even have to worry that they’ll hit your gag reflex like the dentist ALWAYS does with that tray of goo they use to make impressions of your teeth. I think I’d rather have needles than that nasty goo tray.

Anyway, this involved no needles or trays of goo. I was very pleased about this. If you’re interested to sign up or find out more, here’s the website you should check out:

It could save someone’s life. I hope if I or anyone I know ever needs it, there are LOTS of registered donors to find a match quickly. ♥
