Walk for Hunger – 20 miles on Sunday May 1, 2011

I’m going to do the Walk for Hunger this year on Sunday May 1.

In addition to being something I’ve felt strongly about for a long time, this year, with everything my dad’s been through, and seeing the importance of nutrition to his health so dramatically, I feel like it’s especially important to help EVERYONE have access to good, healthy, nutritious food, even if they can’t afford it. So, if you click on this link to my walk page, I hope you consider making a donation to Project Bread (tax deductible if you itemize!) Big or small, every donation helps. I just made my own pledge of $100, but even as little as $5 makes a difference, and if you want to donate privately, there’s a place where you can elect to be seen in my roll of donors or not.

Thanks in advance for any pledges.  ♥

Why did the the turkey cross the road?

Because he wasn’t CHICKEN!!!

Ha!  Ha!  Ha!   I crack myself up sometimes.  Seriously though, I saw this guy crossing the street on my way home from work today, and I just HAD to stop & take his picture.  I’ve never seen a male turkey walking around with his feathers all puffed out like this.  It was pretty cool.

And coincidentally, on the other side of the road were two lovely (I’m sure) female turkeys, just strutting around, which is probably the REAL reason this guy crossed the road, but I like my joke reason better.  🙂

Easter rain shower

After a lovely, warm, sunny morning, THIS is what we got around 5:00 in the afternoon.  Bummer.  It’s not raining hard though, and it’s still a pretty cool looking sky with the gray & white clouds blending together like this.

*p.s.  I lost 1/2 lb. in my Saturday weigh-in this week.  Down 20.5 lb., 33.5 to go.

Waiting to see the Easter Bunny…

Shoeper Challenge 21 of 59 (Me Too)

Two days, two posts in Shoeperwoman‘s shoe challenge.  These are my gray mary-jane “work” pumps, that usually live at the office, but today was out of control crazy at work, so I wore them all day, but instead of changing into flats for my commute, I had to bring these home to snap a picture, since I didn’t have a chance to do so on my lunch break, as I had planned to do.

Do you like the little gnomes in my tree?  I wonder if they fight at night like the ones in Gnomeo & Juliet.  You know, because one of these is a Boston (Red Sox!) gnome, and the other one is a New York gnome?  Obviously, the NY gnome is Giants (football), not Yankees.  Let’s not get crazy now, OK?

Oh, and since you can’t really see the mary-jane strap on my shoes or little cut-outs on the ankle in this picture, I took a close-up to show you the detail.  You’re welcome.  😉

Back to the Future…

…I mean the present.  Really.  Here’s a post with some pictures of how we spent our evening today!  Can you believe it?  It’s true.  Don’t get used to it.  My mom thinks I’m already spoiling my dad by cooking so much for him over the last few months, so I probably shouldn’t spoil you, with regular, timely blog posts too, right?  😉

Especially because next week’s going to be a *little* bit more chaotic, even above & beyond my *normal* level of chaos.  In addition to trying to visit Dad daily, working short days, and trying to meet all my April reporting deadlines at work, here’s what next week looks like for me:

Sunday:  Easter (I have to bake a cake to bring, which I enjoy, but it takes time).

Wednesday:  Veronica has 5:30 rehearsal for her First Communion

Thursday:  Veronica’s mandatory skating show “dress rehearsal”

Friday:  Veronica’s skating show!  If you’re in the area, I’m sure she’d love if you come to watch her.  It’s at the Zapustas rink in Randolph, Friday night Apr. 29 @ 7:30 pm.  Tickets are $7 for adults, and $5 for kids over 5 years old.

Saturday:  Veronica’s First Communion.

Back to today though, Jim boiled white eggs last night, so we could dye them today.  Here are a few of my favorite pictures of how it worked out.  I think there was only one moment of whining, which might be a world record.  I’ll take it!

Who ordered a hippie?

I’m pretty sure we didn’t.  But she sure is cute, isn’t she?  Veronica’s school had a “Hippie Day” and this was the best we can do.  Sabrina’s dressed just for a regular day @ preschool, but of course, she wanted to be in the picture.
