Weather forecast for tomorrow night

Snow.

Seriously?!?

Isn’t it supposed to be spring?  Did Mother Nature miss the memo?  She sent the crocuses up, which is normally one of my happiest days of spring.  It’s sullied this year by the threat of pending doom & gloom in the form of 6-12 inches of fluffy white stuff, starting tomorrow night, going into Friday.

To cheer myself up, I took some pictures of the crocuses.  I like taking pictures of flowers anyway, and I was pleased with these, especially to see the contrast of the brown, dead grass against the vibrant green leaves and gorgeous violet blooms, even if they are smaller than they seem in these close-ups.

Shoeper Challenges 17 and 18 (of 59) — F21 & Glacee

I’m falling behind on shoe challenges too.  I’ve done two this week, one yesterday, and another one today, but I’ve been too exhausted to post.  I also failed to update my weekly WI.  Again.  Gah!  Anyway, here I am yesterday, dressed to bring my dad back to the hospital because he needed a blood transfusion.  The shoes are my pewter jewelled flats from Forever 21, and the transfusion went smoothly.  Please keep the prayers coming that he can improve his nutrition and have better lab results on Monday.  He REALLY needs them.

And today, here I am in the lobby of my building.  It’s one of my more boring pairs of shoes (Glacee low brown boots), worn with pretty boring clothes.  And it’s not a great picture for seeing the shoes anyway, so I took a better picture so you could see the shoes:

Oh, and I lost another pound on Saturday, which brings me to 20 lb. lost (again), with 34 lb. to go.  🙂

Christmas in March???

Christmas in July is so overdone, don’t you think?  We had a mini Christmas, opening some gifts from Veronica’s Godfather, who we haven’t seen in a while, and I think these pictures show that Christmas joy knows no season.

She’s movin’ on up

She didn’t get a piece of the pie though.  At least not yet.  😉

She did test up from Basic 4 to Basic 5 on Saturday though.  You’ll have to forgive me for the tardiness in posting, but here’s a picture of Veronica with her new badge for your enjoyment.  You can see the pride on her face, but what you can’t see is the pride on mine.  It’s there though.

We also learned that her annual skating show is the same weekend as her first communion.  Uh oh!  Not to despair though, we found out she can do the Friday night show, even if she can’t make the Saturday show.  I hope anyone who wants to come see her skate can still make it on Friday night Apr. 29 @ Zapustas Arena in Randolph, MA.  Tickets are sold at the door.

*Photo was taken the same day as her test:  Saturday March 26.

Broccoli cheese quiche I made for my dad

This was one of THE easiest things I’ve ever made.  I cheated and used a pre-made pie crust, sprinkled some chopped, steamed broccoli in the bottom, then poured on a mixture of 6 eggs, 1 cup of cream*, and about a cup of shredded cheddar cheese.  Bake at 350 F or 375 F for 50-60 minutes, let cool to set, and serve.

*I used cream because my dad is losing too much weight from chemo, and I wanted to make this as rich as possible for him.  To make it lighter for my own consumption, I’d switch to skim milk, and probably use less of it.  I might also add a few extra egg whites to make up for the volume, and use lowfat or fat-free cheese.

This is what happens…

This is what happens when a 3 year old finds out you gave away sone of her “baby” toys.  : (

Guess what I made today?

Guess who made lasagna?
